How Much Meniscus Should a Surgeon Remove in Case of Meniscus Tear?

As reconfirmed by the recent reports published in Journal of Knee Surgery, it is important to take a judicial decision on how much meniscus should be removed.

It is important to partly remove the torn area of the meniscus otherwise it will cause major arthritis very fast. However more meniscus you remove, more are the chances of future arthritis; though lesser than what you get if you don't remove the torn part.

An experienced surgeon will try to be just right and not over-enthusiast in removing the torn area. Of course, if the tear is reparable, then one must repair it and not remove it.
